Paper Shoot Cameras have gained popularity for their minimalist design, eco-friendly build, and vintage-inspired photos. If you’re new to Paper Shoot or considering one, you probably have a few questions. This guide breaks down the most common questions about Paper Shoot cameras so you can decide if it's right for you (spoiler alert: it probably is)!
1. What is a Paper Shoot camera?
A Paper Shoot camera is a digital camera housed in a biodegradable stone paper shell. Our design focuses on simplicity, allowing users to take photos with minimal settings and no screen to preview images. It encourages us to live in the moment and capture the moments that matter!
2. How does it work?
The Paper Shoot camera uses a basic circuit board and lens to capture images onto an SD card.
• Insert an SD card and two AAA Rechargeable Batteries.
• Select one of the four photo filters (color, black & white, sepia, or blue tone).
• Press the single button to take a photo!
Photos are saved to the SD card, which you can transfer to your computer or phone later with the USB-C Cable that it comes with, or you can grab one of our SD-Phone readers to make it even simpler!
3. What’s the image quality like?
Paper Shoot cameras now have a 20-megapixel lens, which delivers sharp and vibrant images. However, their appeal lies in the camera's imperfect, film-like aesthetic rather than ultra-high resolution. See photo examples taken by real customers on our Taken By Paper Shoot account!
4. Can you take videos with it?
Yes! Paper Shoots can record 10 second and time-lapse-style videos. Simply connect your camera to a power source (OR grab our video function card and insert it into the SIM card slot) and switch to the third filter for video and the fourth video for time lapse!
5. Is it really eco-friendly?
Yes, Paper Shoot cameras are designed with sustainability in mind:
• The body is made from recycled materials like wood, cork, and fibreglass or biodegradable stone paper.
• It avoids the waste associated with disposable film cameras.
• Uses rechargeable batteries that are removable, which improves shelf-life and restorability.
6. Is it easy to use for beginners?
Absolutely! Paper Shoot cameras are perfect for anyone who wants a simple, no-fuss way to capture memories. With no complicated screens settings, it’s as easy as point-and-shoot.
7. How long do the batteries last?
Battery life depends on the type of batteries you use. Rechargeable AAA batteries can take around 300–500 photos before needing a charge, while disposable batteries produce far less and may cause malfunctions with the camera. To reduce waste, rechargeable batteries are highly recommended.
8. Is it durable?
Despite its paper body, the camera is surprisingly durable. The outer shell is made from stone paper which is water-resistant, drop-proof and tear-resistant. It’s built to withstand casual use, weather, travel, and all other adventures!
9. Who is a Paper Shoot camera ideal for?
A Paper Shoot camera is perfect for:
• People who love vintage or film-like photography but don't love the cost.
• Those seeking an eco-friendly alternative to disposable cameras.
• Beginners or kids who want a fun, easy way to take photos.
• Photographers who want a break from complex, high-tech gear.
10. Is it worth it?
If you love the idea of simple, sustainable photography with a retro, film-aesthetic vibe, a Paper Shoot is definitely worth considering. It’s not a replacement for a high-end camera but offers a unique, joyful way to capture memories.
Paper Shoot cameras are a breath of fresh air in the age of over-complicated tech. Their blend of nostalgia, sustainability, and simplicity makes them a fantastic choice for creative minds, eco-conscious consumers, or anyone looking to slow down and enjoy the art of photography.
